Evening Highlights of Mikindani, Mtwara

To travel, Is to learn.

twara is in the southeastern part of Tanzania. It has never been a region that interested me enough to want to visit, I think because there is not much tourism advertisements of the place and I do not know anyone coming from there. It is only by work obligations that has brought me to this region and I am so glad that has happened.

Today evening I was bored and I did not want to spend the rest of my day in the hotel. I do not know much about this place, so I reached out to you guys on Instagram to get a couple of recommendations. I have to say, you guys are better than google ☺; one of you suggested to go visit the Mikindani bay and I quickly jumped on that idea.

In my few hours there, I got to learn that Mikindani was once a slave trade centre, and also the stopping point for Dr. David Livingstone before his final journey in central Africa. I wish I came a bit earlier in the day to explore more of this beautiful place, however, I am happy of the experience so far and I hope to come back again.

Here are some highlights of the evening in pictures;

This weighs 100kg, the slaves had to carry it to determine who was strong enough to do manual labour.

My guide was so friendly and awesome, if you find yourself in Mtwara call him for his services. Below are his details;
