A Guide To Shopping In Bangkok

Shop till you Drop!

B

angkok is the best place to shop in Thailand, with their many malls across the city you are bound to find one that has the best prices to fit your wallet. I am going to share with you a few malls and an outlet store that I went to during my stay in Bangkok and you can decide which suit your budget.

Malls – From Affordable to Expensive clothes

Central World: This is by far the largest mall in Thailand, situated in Rama 1 Rd. It has everything you can think of, from Designer clothing such as Calvin Klein to affordable clothing brands like Forever 21 and ZARA. The mall also has beauty salons, high-tech gadget shops, furniture shops, book shops, Supermarket and multiple banks. When you need to take a break from shopping you can enjoy meals from their many restaurants and cafés. This mall provides the ultimate shopping experience with it housing over 500 stores, you might not need to go elsewhere to shop. It is conveniently located near the Chitlom BTS station, you can comfortably spend the whole day there with no worries of how you will get back to your hotel/apartment. There are a few hotels nearby the mall, such as; Intercontinental and Holiday Inn, booking in any of these hotels will be convenient for your shopping experience. Otherwise, you could rent an apartment in any sois (streets) in the Sukhumvit district and still be close to shopping malls, restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
  • Some popular brands: M&S, Miss Selfridge, Mango, Topshop, Kate Spade, Charles & Keith, Calvin Klein, Accessorize, CK Jeans, Samsonite, Topman, Lee, Zara, Urban studio, Lacoste, XXI Forever, Adidas, Crocs, Clarks, Gap, The Body Shop.

Siam Paragon: This mall provides luxury items mainly from International High-end brands targeting high income Thais and international visitors with a steep budget to spend. The word luxury should not scare you because it is still a mall worth visiting offering a few affordable stores for you to shop in, an exhilarating VIP cinema experience and a bowling alley for a bit of a fun activity. It is right around the corner to Central World, and it is in front of the Siam BTS station. You can also get there using the skywalk (bridge) that is connected to the Central World mall.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
  • Some popular brands: Hugo Boss, Armani, Prada, Balenciaga, Burberry, Bvlgari, Cartier, Chanel, Celine, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Jimmy Choo, Loui Vuitton, Miu Miu, Mont Blanc, Aldo, H&M, Zara, Gap, Nine West, Swarovski, Tumi, Aveda, DVF, Footwork, Jaspal, Massimo Dutti, Bose, Samsung.

Mega Bangna: This mall is a bit far from the central part of the city, it is situated in Bangna-Trad Rd. It is a fairly large mall with over 400 shops, it has kids play areas, restaurants, movie theater, clothing stores, and lifestyle stores; it definitely has everything for everyone. It is again another mall when you visit you would want to stay the whole day and make a trip out of it (trust me you will find yourself spending hours at this magnificent mall). Getting there is not as easily accessible as its counterparts – Siam Paragon and Central World. You could hire an Uber (this could be pricey depending on where you will be coming from). I moved to stay in Punnawithi area (I can’t remember the street) for half of my stay in Bangkok and it was just a 10 mins drive from my apartment.

  • Opening hours: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm
  • Some popular brands: Zara, Esprit, Mango, Forever 21, Nine West, Bershka, Charles & Keith, Guess, Next, Giordano, Nike, Adidas, Reebok and many other sports shops.

Platinum Fashion Mall: This mall has clothing and accessories stores from small companies providing stylish yet cheap products. Prices start as low as $5; isn’t that exciting?

  • Opening hours: 09:00 am – 08:00 pm
  • Weekend opening hours: 08:00 am – 08:00 pm

Bangkok Fashion Outlet: This outlet is situated in Silom Rd, just next to Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom. I love this outlet because it offers discount deals as high as 90% on famous international and Thai brands.

  • Some popular brands: Central, M&S, The Outlet24, Giordano, His&Her, Supersports, Playboy, Haus of Schuh by Taywin, Footwork Void, OfficeMate.
